Kneemail...

How's your kneemail with God? I came across this word awhile ago and it struck a chord with me. I email friends and talk to friends by phone but sometimes I'm so busy being busy that my kneemail suffers. I NEED to spend more time on my knees talking to the Lord and following His lead for the day.

What if......

Lisa, over at Penningtonpost.blogspot.com, posted this today and I was really challenged.
I've slipped in my desire to thank God for all his blessings since school has started and life has been so busy. I really need to tell God how thankful I am each and every minute.

Look to the Lord....

Look to the Lord and His strength: seek His face always. Psalm 105:4

When I feel alone......I need to look to the Lord.

When I'm convicted.......I need to look to the Lord.

When I first get up......I need to look to the Lord.

When I'm tired of dealing with a challenging child:).....I need to call upon His strength.

When I have more laundry, dishes, schoolwork, and meals than I can bear........I need to call upon His strength.

When I don't want to get out of bed.....I need to call upon His strength.

Let us remember to look to God each and every minute for his strength and seek His face!!!

Devotion or Devotions?

Where does your devotion lie?



Are you devoted to your job? Are you devoted to your children? Are you devoted to yourself? Ouch!!



As Christians our devotion is to be to God. I believe we get it mixed up at times. We think of it as "doing our devotions" to check it off a list. If we really think about it, we get caught up in the doing rather than "being devoted".



We are like the rich young ruler who asked Jesus, "What must I do to inherit eternal life?"



Webster defines devotion as....The state of being dedicated, consecrated, or solemly set apart for a particular purpose. Webster 1828.



Jesus' devotion was to do the will of His father and bring him glory. He only did what the Father told him to do. He had a relationship with his Father. Many times Jesus would leave the crowds and go to a soliatary place to be alone with God.




Am I dedicated to God? Am I consecrated to Him? Am I solemly set apart for the purposes He has for me, my life, and that of my husband and children? Do I get alone with God each day to find out what he wants me to do? Am I devoted to His plan?


Something to ponder.

Modesty

Modesty isn't something that's talked about much these days. I find it refreshing when I find a young lady who isn't afraid to stand for God or his principles. God calls us to first be an example to our own children and then to younger ladies at church and our community.

I watched her youtube video at the bottom of the homepage and was very impressed. I think it would be great for all women and young ladies to see it.

Rachel Lee Carter

Modesty is one of the most important gifts we can instill in our daughters. Teaching our daughters that their bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit and will be given to our future husband one day is so vitally important.

It is so refreshing to find young women today who want to honor God and also train young girls to honor God with the clothing they choose. Rachel Lee Carter is a wonderful example to me and to young girls. Check out her blog below.

VBS "Splash Kingdom"

The boys and I helped with VBS each evening this week and we had so much fun. The boys learned new songs and learned important principles from familiar Bible stories. They had awesome snacks, made neat crafts and played far too many water games for one VBS!!

Read and Apply

Every other year I get together with a group of women to re-read this book. Each time I go through it God speaks to my heart in new ways. I find that I need to read this book often. We as women, tend to want to control our husbands and this book has caused me to think counter-cultural. Our society is totally against women loving, honoring, supporting, and cherishing their husbands. So many girls and young ladies are shown that men need to earn their respect. This is sin. We as women aren't perfect and neither should we expect our husbands to be perfect either. Reading this book has changed my thinking~


Coming together physically it's a gift.
I need to make him more productive and efficient.
I need to smile and have a joyful countenance.
Thankfulness is how you think; joy is the abundance it produces.
A women's calling isn't easy. To allow someone else to control your life is much harder than controling it yourself.
I desire to please my husband in all ways.
Embrace my Mr. Steady
Find my life in his.
I want to be a better wife, mother, and manager of the home
I need to simplify more areas of the home.
Provide an oasis of peace for him each day.
My husband, children, home and schooling are my job!
Train the children to help their father.

The Promise

We saw this beautiful rainbow this evening after the rain.

I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. Think on such things.

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things. Phil. 4:8

One of the biggest battles we have is in our mind. What we think about and meditate on will be acted out in our daily lives.

As a mother, I feel over-whelmed at the task before me. I want to be a help-meet to Larry, a mother who trains and guides the physical demands of life but also to prepare our sons spiritually for life. When I begin to feel discouraged I must analyze my thought pattern....What have I been thinking? If Satan can get me distracted from the Truth and to believe and rely on myself and my own strength I have lost. We need to daily read our Bibles and fill our minds with the truth of God's word. Memorizing verses that build us up and make us ready for the battle is one of the best ways to defeat the enemy.

I hope you are in the Word daily so you too will be able to stand against the enemy of our soul.
(Eph. 6:10-18)

In the front of my Bible I have this written. I can't remember who said or I would give them credit..... The purpose of Scripture memory is to build God's Word into our lifestyle that it may become the basis for our decisions, attitudes, actions, and relationships.

The Duggars' new book......A Love that Multiplies

I was sooooo happy to see the postman this morning; he dropped off my new book! I've read the Duggars other book, 20 and Counting, and I gleaned so much from it. I'm so looking forward to reading more about this family living their lives to bring glory to God.

We're getting ready to go camping so save a great weekend everyone.

One Thousand Gifts.....Thank you Ann.

If you haven't read Ann Voskamp's book, One Thousand Gifts, I highly recommend it. Her poetic writing style is beautifully displayed in this book. A very thought-provoking book and a challenge to live a life of Eucharisteo.....a life of thanksgiving. Above is my Thanksgiving journal with many pages of thankfulness to God for things unnoticed for far too long.

Larry bought me this plaque from the Billy Graham Library on their trip to the Operation Christmas Child processing center. God welcomes everyone to come and dine at His table.

Alison, Daniel's girlfriend, really likes to sew and I bought her a purse pattern and she was so happy.

Mr. Steady likes anything involving deer. He really enjoys hunting and the meat to feed the family is so good. Thank you Lord for providing it each year.

I like anything old. My home is filled with old pillows, furniture, old towels and bowls. I like to fill my home with things that my grandparents would have had in their home. Joshua gave me this old stove and now it sits atop my refrigerator.

The boys went shopping for grandma and Ben picked out this bright shawl and Noah bought her a set of burner covers for her stove.

Hunter and Erika were married in August so we put a collage together of their wedding pictures to display in their home.

Each Christmas Erika buys Halloween costumes on clearance to give to the little boys. This is one of the things they look forward to. Here are Benjamin and Noah as dragons, wings and all.

Nerf guns are a big hit around our house with four boys. Daniel and Joshua were so happy to get these. Over Christmas vacation a group of boys from church get together in the gymnasium at the church and set up tables as "bunders and shields" and chairs atop one another to make "barbed wire fence" and they spend the whole day in the dark having wars. I'm so thankful that the boys can have good clean fun and good friends.

I hope that your Christmas was one of peace and joy. Our Christmas was one of love and fellowship and I'm so thankful that we simplified it many years ago. I look forward to Christmas each year to remember what Jesus did for me and my family and the whole world. It is by grace alone that I'm a child of the King. I couldn't do anything to make myself good enough. Jesus did it all for you and me.
