A New Year!

Well, the first week of school went VERY well. The boys were happy to start and give more structure to their days. Noah is doing First grade and is about half-way through his books.

Benjamin is in Third and will soon be going onto Fourth, as we did most of the summer to keep their minds busy! They can get into trouble if they have too much idle time.

Joshua is in Ninth grade this year. It is hard to believe that he is in High School. He said the work-load seems to have doubled this year, and I agree.

Daniel's Graduation

Congratulations Daniel! We're so proud of you and hope you use your talents to serve God each and every day of your life. I can't believe we are standing at this point in your life; you have only ever wanted to please your father and me. You have been a blessing to us. I love you very much and look forward to seeing what God has prepared for you.

Schooling and Canning and Field trips, Oh My!!!

This is what I've been feeling the last three weeks since school is in full swing.
As you can see, Noah takes school very seriously with freeze pop in hand. He really like his reading books and he's doing such a great job!!
Joshua is also doing well. He and I are up at 6 each morning working to get all of his home school work completed before he goes to the Christian School for Math and English. He really likes having all his subjects finished by noon.

Benjamin is enjoying his school work and is learning so much. He's fun to have because he laughs at everything. He enjoys his reading books so much because of the true to life stories.

Canning apple pie filling for this winter has taken a lot of time. We are so glad when one jar doesn't seal and then we have a good excuse to sample our labors!! :)

We attended the Civil War Days at Camp Clay with the other home school families and had a wonderful time. The boys made their own butter.......

attempted to write with quills and were so thankful they have pencils to use each day during school.

The boys all agreed that this will be Daniel's next welding project. They really, really wanted to stay for supper at this man's tent!!!

The Muzzle loader demonstration was a favorite for the boys. They really enjoy the guns.

Joshua, Benjamin and Noah all tried their hand at the toys the Indian children would have played with many years ago.

The copper smith was very interesting. He shared how he made copper bowls, coffee pots and pans. He also gave each teacher a whistle!! A wise man not to give any to the children. :)

Feeling a little rushed these days.....

Katelyn was over for a visit today while Mommy did some errands. She is so funny. I love to hear her coo and see her smile.

School planning is upon me. I need to decide what books will suit each child best. This seems to be a "mountain" for me at the moment but I know God will help me decide which curriculum is best.

Laundry seemed to multiply while at camp meeting. I thought I was keeping up with it but alas I had several large loads to do and fold. I harnessed the boys' energy and we were able to finish all the laundry in a short time. :) I'm so thankful for my washing machine and willing hearts!!!

The boys are glad to be home and back to our usual routine. Although they do miss their friends at camp and would enjoy playing with them again, they know school is about to start and summer is coming to an end. Memories of fun and fellowship will be planted in their minds for a long time in which I'm very grateful.

Noah and Benjamin spent quite a few hours building and playing with their race car and train tracks on Sunday. It was a nice day to unwind from a full week.

Graduation Pictures

Daniel and I had fun taking some of his Graduation pictures these last few weeks. It was trial and error, but I think they came out pretty well. He looks so grown up with his large hands and tall frame. But he's still the little boy that hugs and gives me a kiss each morning.:) Double click the pictures for a close-up. Prom in Paris 2011

Alison and Daniel at "Prom in Paris". They had so much fun and I appreciate all the work that is done by the school to promote a God honoring prom. The students eat a nice meal with parents and then take pictures. The remainder of the evening is spent golfing, bowling and eating! The whole group has such an exciting and memorable evening.
