Feeling Unsatisfied?

Q: "What do I do as a SAHMs to feel satisfied?"

A:  Satisfaction is synonymous with fulfilment.  I love to encourage others and even better if it's given with the warm fuzzies.  But more than that I want to share truth.  It's a passion.  However, sometimes the answer isn't so warm and fuzzy.

We, as Christian wives and mothers only find satisfaction and fulfillment in doing that which the LORD has called us to do.  When we thumb through the Bible and see:
  • "The heart of her husband safely trusts in her"  Proverbs 31:11
  • "She rises while it is yet night..."  Proverbs 31:15
  • "She looks well to the ways of her household..."  Proverbs 31:27
  • Be "well reported for good works... [bring] up children..." 1 Timothy 5:10
  • "...bear children, guide the house..."  1 Timothy 5:14
  • "love [your] husbands [and] children...be keepers at home"  Titus 2:4,5
We realize that we are to be a trusted wife to our own husband.  We are to raise our children in the LORD.  We are to care for and feed our families, taking good care of our homes.  For those of us who worked while we had children, when our heart's desire was to be home, those are the reasons why.  The LORD put that "mama heart" in all of us and we yearn to be where He has called us to be.

So we quit our jobs to become full time homemakers.  We love and adore our family, but for many of us, something was missing.  We've bought into the lies of the world for so so long that when we do what we know is good and right we become disillusioned, bored, unfulfilled, and even overwhelmed.  It can be a difficult trap to escape!

What's a homemaker to do?  How do we transition?  We stop conforming to the world, and we renew our minds.
"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect."  Romans 12:2
Sounds good, but how do we do that?  By reading the Bible, by friending other women who are a bit further down the path than we are and letting them encourage us and speak words of life to us.  By praying.  By reading good books that speak God's truth about women's roles.  And by ignoring what the world says, and seeing it's lies for just that, lies.

I am praying for us all that we continue to look to Him who called us, and that our satisfaction and fulfillment comes from doing what He has called us to do while we are here as pilgrims on this earth, serving Him by serving our families.

Can you give an example of finding joy and fulfillment in your role as wife, mother, homemaker?
