My mother, my husband and my 15 year old have been gone since Sunday! Boy, do I miss them. They are serving this week in North Carolina at Samaritan's Purse. The organization that Franklin Graham started to bring the Gospel to children in a shoebox. We've been apart of this ministry for about 11 years and the children so enjoy buying gifts and thinking of the child that it will go to. We pray for the shoeboxes and hope that the love put into it will lead a little child and his or her family to know that God loves them and that Jesus died for them.
I had all these wonderful "things" that I wanted to do like: finish my quilt.....knit.......sew......dejunk.....play with the boys......bake.......read......blog........have longer quiet times......sit and enjoy that quiet. Well, I didn't get any of these things accomplished. Instead we went to Chuck E. Cheese and got lost in a big city. We went to a few thrift shops. We attended the 4-H and homeschool Christmas parties. We visited friends and watched a few Christmas movies. We cared for the animals, drove to hockey practice, we ate good, did school, and filled the wood box and kept the stoves going. The house is a mess, but we've had fun.
Boy, do I miss my support system!!! My mother lives next door and helps me a lot. She keeps each of the boys one night a week to spend time with them and to give them a special night with Grandma. My husband is a wonderful, kind and sweet man. He takes the boys to the Y and is a great father. My eldest son helps me out with the younger boys' school and with meals. He is a nice young man and I miss him so. I can't wait until they all get home.
Although my human supporters have been away, God has been right by my side. He has helped me through the long nights. He has been there when the children were on my last nerve. He has helped me realize how important my mother, husband and son are to me. He helped me when I was afraid and worried. He was guiding us when we were lost. He's protected us this whole week. He's so faithful.

This is a wonderful post. It is good when we have moments that make us fully appreciate all that others do for us. You have a wonderful family! I like how you wrote, the house was a mess, but you had fun. I think we would have fun being friends.
We have many ornaments, but most are from the thrift store or very great after Christmas sales or from the Dollar Tree Store. The rare NEW ornaments are those bought as a gift for one of the children from one of their siblings.
From reading your post, I know you like the thrift store as much I do. Do you have a Dollar Tree Store? I only buy from the Dollar Tree Store if it is a worthy use of my dollar.
